Company motor vehicles are a privilege!
Any company that has employees who drive as part of their work should have a vehicle policy that sets out the responsibilities of that privilege.
It does not matter whether employees drive regularly or occasionally, or whether the vehicle is owned, leased or rented by the company. Even if employees use their own vehicle for work purposes it is still important to clearly record each party’s responsibilities. A motor vehicle policy is also the first step towards meeting the company’s health and safety obligations in respect of motor vehicles.
This policy covers:
- Expenses and fines
- Private use
- Maintenance
- Driving licences
- Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Accidents
